Old car rules in Faridabad
Faridabad is part of NCR, so petrol vehicles over 15 years and diesel vehicles over 10 years are treated as end-of-life under the 2015 NGT order upheld by the Supreme Court. As of September 2026, the Supreme Court's order of 17 December 2025 protects BS-IV and newer cars from coercive action; pre-BS-IV cars are not protected. Faridabad was also one of the five high-vehicle-density NCR districts covered by CAQM's fuel-station direction before it was kept in abeyance in October 2025.
Strict Local Enforcement: The district has been enforcing this for years: under the Haryana scrappage policy, Faridabad authorities have deregistered and impounded over-age vehicles in successive drives. If your car has crossed the critical age, it is safer to scrap it than to leave it parked on a public road.
Haryana Vehicle Scrappage Policy: what Faridabad owners get
Under the Vehicle Scrappage Policy, Haryana (gazette notification of 7 December 2022), scrapping an old vehicle and buying a new one earns a motor vehicle tax rebate and a registration fee rebate, while keeping an over-age vehicle on the road costs more.

Central rules add a motor vehicle tax concession of up to 25% for non-transport vehicles and up to 15% for transport vehicles bought against a Certificate of Deposit, plus a waiver of the registration fee. Ask your dealer what will actually be applied at registration.
