RTO Registration Fees & Road Tax
Haryana levies a one-time road tax at registration based on the vehicle’s ex-showroom price and category. Additional charges apply for registration, HSRP, and smart card. Road tax is also applicable when bringing a vehicle into Panipat from another state. Rates are revised from time to time. Confirm the latest applicable rates on the Parivahan portal or directly with the RTO before payment.
| Vehicle Category | Standard Road Tax / Registration Rate |
|---|---|
| Two Wheelers (Price < 75k) | 4% of ex-showroom value |
| Two Wheelers (Price > 75k) | 6% of ex-showroom value |
| Cars (Price < 6 Lakh) | 5% of ex-showroom value |
| Cars (Price 6 Lakh - 15 Lakh) | 8% of ex-showroom value |
| Cars (Price > 15 Lakh) | 10% of ex-showroom value |
Important Local Note: Panipat’s Industrial & Highway Location
Panipat is one of Haryana’s major industrial centres (textile hub) and lies on the busy NH-44 corridor. This results in high movement of commercial and goods vehicles. The RTO (especially HR-06) handles a substantial volume of commercial vehicle registrations and permits. There is no NCR-style 10/15-year vehicle ban in Panipat (unlike Gurugram or Faridabad).
