How to Register a Vehicle Here
New vehicles must be registered to comply with statutory rules. Process is typically 7-15 days.

Fill Form 20 at the RTO or on the Parivahan portal (dealers often do this for you).

Submit documents, road tax and registration fee.

Vehicle inspection — an officer verifies the chassis and engine numbers.

RC issued as a smart-card / digital RC within 7–15 days. No new vehicle should leave the dealer without an HSRP affixation certificate.

⚠️ Old Vehicle Rules in Sonipat (NCR)
Sonipat is a core Delhi-NCR district, where diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years are barred from plying, under NGT / Supreme Court orders. Sonipat is one of the five high-density NCR districts — with Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar — where the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) denies fuel to end-of-life vehicles at pumps (via ANPR cameras linked to VAHAN) from 1 November 2025. Such vehicles must be de-registered, moved out of NCR with an NOC, or scrapped — so always check a used car's age and registration date before buying.
