How to Register a Vehicle Here

New vehicles must be registered to comply with statutory rules. Process is typically 7-15 days.

  1. 1

Fill Form 20 at the RTO or on the Parivahan portal (dealers often do this for you).

  2. 2

Submit documents, road tax and registration fee at the concerned office (HR-51 for private, HR-38 for commercial).

  3. 3

Vehicle inspection — an officer verifies the chassis and engine numbers against the paperwork.

  4. 4

RC issued as a smart-card / digital RC within 7–15 days. No new vehicle should leave the dealer without an HSRP affixation certificate.

  • Form 20 (application for registration)

RTO Registration Fees & Road Tax

Haryana charges a one-time road tax at registration, based on the vehicle's ex-showroom price and type, plus standard registration and HSRP fees. Road tax also applies when you bring a vehicle into Faridabad from another state. Rates are revised periodically — confirm the current slab with the RTO or on Parivahan before paying.

Two Wheelers (Price > 75k)6% of ex-showroom value
Cars (Price < 6 Lakh)5% of ex-showroom value
Cars (Price 6 Lakh - 15 Lakh)8% of ex-showroom value

Important: Old Vehicle Rules in Faridabad (NCR)

Faridabad falls within the Delhi-NCR region, where diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years are not allowed to ply, under NGT / Supreme Court directions. Such vehicles must be de-registered, moved out of NCR with an NOC, or scrapped. If you're buying a used car in Faridabad, always check the vehicle's age and registration date first — an RC check shows both instantly. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) denies fuel to end-of-life vehicles at NCR pumps from 1 November 2025.
