| Vehicle Category | Standard Road Tax / Registration Rate |
|---|---|
| Two Wheelers | 2% to 8% of ex-showroom price based on cost |
| Four Wheelers (< 10 Lakh) | 8% of ex-showroom price |
| Four Wheelers (> 10 Lakh) | 10% of ex-showroom price |
Important: Old Vehicle Rules in Meerut (NCR)
Meerut is part of the Delhi-NCR, so the rule barring diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years from plying applies here in principle, under NGT / Supreme Court orders. Uttar Pradesh is enforcing this in phases via the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM): denial of fuel to end-of-life vehicles has been announced first for Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr and Hapur from 1 November 2026, with other western-UP NCR districts — including Meerut — expected to follow. Such vehicles must be de-registered, moved out of NCR with an NOC, or scrapped — so always check a used car's age and registration date before buying.
