Old car rules in Noida and Greater Noida
Gautam Buddh Nagar is part of NCR, so the NGT rule applies: petrol vehicles over 15 years and diesel vehicles over 10 years are treated as end-of-life. As of September 2026, the Supreme Court's order of 17 December 2025 protects cars meeting BS-IV or newer norms from coercive action, while pre-BS-IV cars are not protected. Gautam Buddh Nagar was also one of five high-vehicle-density NCR districts where fuel stations were told to stop refuelling end-of-life vehicles from 1 November 2025, before the direction was kept in abeyance in October 2025.

What you get for scrapping in Uttar Pradesh
Besides the scrap value, your Certificate of Deposit unlocks a motor vehicle tax concession and a registration fee waiver when you buy a new vehicle. Under the central rules notified in October 2021, the concession is up to 25% of motor vehicle tax for non-transport vehicles and up to 15% for transport vehicles, and the registration fee on the new vehicle is waived. The exact amount is applied by the UP transport department at registration, so ask your dealer to confirm the current figure.

Scrap or sell in Noida?
If your car is pre-BS-IV and past the NCR age limit, scrapping is usually the only legal option and the CoD benefits make it the better-paying one. If it is BS-IV or newer and in good shape, an NOC transfer to a district outside NCR — western UP has plenty of buyers — can fetch more than scrap value, though re-registration and road tax eat into the gain.
